Privacy Policy
How we handle the information you share with us through procaredowntown.ca. Last updated June 2026.
Who we are
ProCare Pharmacy & Medical Clinic (“we”, “us”) operates the website procaredowntown.ca. We respect your privacy and handle personal information in accordance with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where applicable, the Health Information Act (HIA).
What we collect
When you contact us or submit a request through this website, we collect only what you provide, such as:
- Your name, phone number, and email address
- The reason for your enquiry (e.g. booking, waitlist, refill)
- Any message or details you choose to include
- How you heard about us (optional)
We do not ask for your Alberta Health card number, medical history, or other health information through this website. Those details are collected securely in person at the pharmacy or clinic.
How we use it
We use the information you submit only to:
- Respond to your enquiry and arrange your appointment, waitlist spot, or refill
- Contact you about the request you made
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising or share it with third parties except service providers that help us operate the website (for example, our email delivery provider), who are bound to protect it.
How long we keep it
We keep the information you submit through this website (such as booking, waitlist, and refill requests) only as long as we reasonably need it to respond to you and meet our record-keeping obligations, then we securely delete it or render it non-identifying - except where we are required or permitted to retain it longer for legal, regulatory, audit, or record-keeping purposes. This follows Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), which does not set a fixed period but requires us to retain personal information only as long as it is reasonably needed for legal or business purposes.
This is separate from your clinical record. Any information that becomes part of your medical record at the pharmacy or clinic is retained in accordance with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) standards and the Health Information Act - generally a minimum of 10 years from the date of your last visit (and, for patients who were minors, until 2 years after they turn 18, or 10 years, whichever is longer).
Security
Information submitted through this website is transmitted over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Please do not include sensitive health information in website messages - for anything urgent or confidential, call us at (825) 401-4905.
Your choices
You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, request a correction, or ask us to delete it, subject to legal requirements. Contact us using the details below.
